Kindred Group, ATG, Svenska Spel Tackle Problem Gambling in Sweden
Kindred Group partners with Swedish operators to tackle problematic gambling
In the fall of 2022, the Kindred Group (Kindred) formed a partnership with Swedish operators ATG and Svenska Spel. The aim of this collaboration was to publish key metrics relating to their interactions with Swedish customers showing signs of problematic gambling behaviour. The overarching goal is to raise public awareness and foster a fact-based discussion on measures to mitigate gambling harm.
Regular reports to the Swedish Gambling Authority
Every six months, the three companies report key metrics to the Swedish Gambling Authority. These metrics cover various parameters, including the percentage of customers contacted due to problematic gambling, the efficacy of proactive measures, the average reduction in gambling activities among contacted individuals, and the proportion of customers opting for self-exclusion from gambling and gambling revenues over various time periods.
Promoting transparency and trust
The reason for the transparent reporting of these metrics is to facilitate the understanding of Swedish stakeholders regarding the strategies employed by the operators to combat harmful gambling tendencies. By leveraging regulatory measures, technological advances, research findings, and personalized interventions, the operators aim to create a safer gambling environment. A transparent and evidence-based dialogue not only increases trust in the industry but also encourages other operators to emulate such initiatives.
Encouraging trends in Kindred’s latest report
A comparative analysis of Kindred’s latest report for the second half of 2023 with the previous report shows encouraging trends. In particular, the percentage of contacted customers who have reduced their gambling as a result of proactive interventions has seen a notable increase, from 75.09% in the first half of 2023 to 78.19%.
It is important to emphasize that this collaboration and transparency in reporting is a crucial step towards combating problematic gambling and hopefully leading to a safer and more responsible gambling industry.
