KSA Reports Surge in Suspected Match-Fixing Cases

The reports mainly involved high-risk games, unusual betting patterns, and sudden odds changes. Eight different license holders reported suspicious activities.
Reasons for the Increase
The sharp rise in reports could be due to increased awareness among betting operators regarding their reporting obligations. At the same time, it may reflect a general increase in match-fixing on a global scale. The KSA emphasizes that it will strengthen its monitoring measures and remind operators of their legal responsibilities.
New Measures to Combat Match-Fixing
The KSA plans to publish clear guidelines outlining expectations for betting operators and their compliance procedures. While the authority itself cannot conduct direct investigations into match-fixing, it does assess whether licensed operators are taking sufficient preventive measures.
A key tool in this effort is the Sports Betting Intelligence Unit (SBIU) of the KSA. This unit serves as a reporting center for suspicious betting activities and supports the authority in monitoring the integrity of the sports betting market in the Netherlands.
