Strong Growth in Pennsylvania Gambling Revenues
The gambling industry in Pennsylvania saw remarkable revenue of over USD 505.8 million in September 2024. This is according to the latest report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Revenue increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year, indicating the continued growth of the gambling sector in the state.
Slots Dominate the Market
A large portion of the revenue came from slot games. Retail slot machines generated almost USD 197 million. However, this segment saw a slight decline of 1.5% compared to the previous year. In contrast, the online slot sector (iGaming) experienced a significant increase of over 15%, generating USD 132 million in revenue.
Sports Betting and iGaming on the Rise
Sports betting also played a significant role in September. The total betting handle amounted to USD 811.2 million, with USD 53.5 million recorded as net revenue. The iGaming sector as a whole also shone, with total revenue of USD 176.7 million.
Valley Forge Casino Resort Takes the Lead
Valley Forge Casino Resort was the top revenue generator in September. With USD 85.6 million, it posted an impressive growth of 29.5% compared to the previous year. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course followed in second place with USD 82.5 million, and Parx Casino came in third with USD 52.2 million.
Parx Casino Leads in Slot Revenue
Parx Casino dominated the slot segment, generating USD 30.2 million solely from slot machines. Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh followed with USD 24.2 million and USD 20.7 million, respectively. Wind Creek Bethlehem also led in table games, generating nearly USD 18 million.
